Encouraging, Equipping & Enriching

At Northern Christian School we are ENCOURAGING one another to strive in all areas of life. We are EQUIPPING all students with values, attitudes and skills to learn and we aim to be ENRICHING the lives of every student, family and the wider community. ...so as "to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God." (Colossians 1:10).

At Northern Christian School our staff vary in their individual educational approaches yet work towards a framework of providing high quality Christian Education that develops every learner.

As a school we aim to provide an inclusive environment, understanding that we are all created in the image of God and part of a community. Every student can expect to be cared for, encouraged, and accepted as part of the school community. Through standardised and school-based assessments, teachers gain an understanding of each student's understanding and needs. Teachers strive to prepare the students for responsible citizenship in a changing technological world. In-class practice caters for all students and is delivered through whole class, small group and individual experiences and activities. Incursions and excursions are encouraged and relevant.

Established researched programs are used as the backbone for teachers' programming, ensuring Australian Curriculum content is covered. This includes Letters and Sounds, Sound Waves, Origo, Oxford Grammar and Primary Connections. A phonemic approach to spelling is taught from Kinder to Year 6. The Australian Curriculum is followed in all subject areas. The Bible Studies curriculum allows students to hear and learn about Christianity. “The Biblical narrative of redemption and the coming of God’s Kingdom is the story that informs and shapes every aspect of the life of the school” (Burggraaf, 2014, p. 67)
