Starting the year in thankfulness…A warm welcome to all of you to another year at Northern Christian School! The grass has been mowed, classrooms have been set up, and we enjoyed welcoming our returning and our new students and their families to Northern Christian School for 2022! It has been a joy and a blessing to see students back at school and see them so excited to be back for a great year! Last year, as a school, we started the year in thankfulness, and I would like to begin our first newsletter in thanksgiving. There are so many unknowns about this year, but we know God is in control and nothing takes Him by surprise. There is so much to be thankful to God for! This year, our hope is that we will be a community of faith. We have no idea what is around the corner, no idea of what this year is going to look like, but we do know that we serve a good God, who by His grace invites us into a relationship with him, which we don’t need to work for, we just need to say “yes”. We are reminded of this in Ephesians 2:8-18: For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
So let’s begin the year in thankfulness, and let’s rejoice and give thanks to God for his faithfulness and that He is the same yesterday, today and forever! Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever. Give thanks to the God of gods. His love endures forever. Give thanks to the Lord of lords: His love endures forever. Psalm 136:1-3
These are just a few things for which we are thankful to God as we start the school year: God’s love that is Never-Stopping, Never Giving Up, Unbreaking, Always and Forever Love. His continued guidance, care and provisions for us. That we are able to have face-to-face learning at school. For all of our precious students who are respectful, kind and responsible. Our 34 new students who have started at Northern this year. For bringing wonderful new staff, Mr Alan Lawson (Deputy Principal),
Mrs Alison Grynglas (Year 2 Teacher) and Miss Lauren Boonstra (Teacher Aide) to us. For our supportive and caring parents and families who partner with us. Our exceptional staff, who worked hard in the holidays with preparing quality and engaging teaching programs for our students. Our support staff, who dearly care and support our students, staff and families in so many seen and unseen ways. For our new garden to plate program and recycling program that will be launched soon. For our cleaners who cleaned our school ready for the new school year. For the new exciting Performing Arts Program and the opportunities that this will bring. For our bus drivers, who safely transport students to school. For Mr Baines for working hard in the holidays, sprucing up the buildings and grounds ready for school. The new renovation of the previous Kinder room that will allow us to open a STEM Lab soon. For our large and wide-open space we have on 20 acres of beautiful bush land.
