Looking Ahead… Term 4

Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he chose for his inheritance.
Psalm 33:12 .

Term 4 is nearly upon us and it’s going to be filled with many exciting things! I am really looking forward to the Athletics Carnival, Music Count Us In, our Talk-and-Walk-a-Thon, Gymnastics Program, graduation events and our Travel to Bethlehem Carols Night which will consist of carols, food delights and games that will all have a European Christmas Market flavour!

As we head into the gift of a new term, what gives us confidence to embrace it? This last weekend, as I have meditated on God’s word and prayed, I have been reminded of God’s sovereignty, faithfulness and how He dearly loves and cares for us all. In Psalm 33, the psalmist reassures us that, ‘The Lord watches all who live on earth.’  As a community that believes in a watching, loving, faithful God who promises to be with us throughout the year, we can enter Term 4 with confidence and the deep, deep sense that we are blessed and that God is for us.

These are some of the blessing we are looking forward to:

• Meeting our 2022 Kinders at their Orientation sessions.

• Celebrating our Kinder students as they finish Kinder.

• Celebrating our Year 6 students as they complete their primary schooling with the Year 6 Graduation and Fun Day Out.

• Seeing our students participate in their houses and grow their ‘team spirit’ at the Athletics Carnival.

• Students reaching their Accelerated Reading (AR) targets or showing progress in their reading, and mastering new mathematics concepts.  

• The warmer and more predictable weather that we will see in Term 4 and the opportunities this brings, including Outdoor Learning Day.

• Students learning new skills in the Gymnastics Program as part of our PE curriculum.

• All our students practicing for our Travel to Bethlehem Carols Night.

There are so many other events and opportunities that we look forward to that I could keep going for pages…

We are blessed because we know with certainty that God promises to sustain us as we continue to serve Him. Blessed is Northern Christian School!

Kinder Update

This term in Kindergarten, we have been continuing to learn more about the seasons. We have been taking regular visits to the bush to observe changes throughout the term.

This week, we travelled to the Botanical Gardens. It was our second trip there for the year. Last time, we enjoyed seeing the autumn leaves and exploring the gardens. This time around we got to enjoy the spring flowers and new leaves.

In the classroom, we have been practising alliteration; finding words that start with the same sound. We have also been cooking, painting and gardening.

This term, we also had our first assembly where we joined with the Prep class to present various items to our families.

It has been a good year, and we are excited to see what the last term has in store for us.

From the Office

Entering Campus

Parents and carers are not to enter classrooms between 9.00am – 3.00pm unless as a volunteer, signed in to the Office.

If you are simply dropping off or collecting your child before or after the start and end of the school day, there is no need to sign in; however, if you enter a classroom during drop off or pick up, please ensure you sign in using the COVID-19 Check In Tas App QR code at the entrance to the classroom prior to entering. (You only need to sign in once even if you enter additional classrooms.)

Parents and carers entering classrooms once the school day has started can be very distracting and unsettling. If you need to drop off or collect your child during class time, please visit the Office, and we will assist you. We will deliver items to classrooms and provide messages to students and staff.

All School Abseentees

For absentees please fill-out our Absentee Form OR email us before 9.30am.

• An SMS will be sent to parents for unexplained absences.

• Please ensure late students who arrive after 9.00am are signed in at the office.

• If students are leaving early they are required to be signed out at the office.

• A doctor’s certificate is required for more than three days’ absence.

• Please notify the office before 2.30pm for any messages your children need before leaving school.
