Reaching Out with
Kindness during COVID-19Year 3 Students Letters to Glenview Aged Care Facility Earlier in the year, in response to the COVID-19 crisis, our students were invited to write a letter or card to encourage essential workers, and to reach out with kindness to those who were expecially vulnerable during the lockdown period. It was in this spirit that our Year 3 students wrote to residents in Glenview Aged Care Facility, and I had the privilege of liaising with the Leisure and Lifestyle Coordinator there, and delivering our package of cards for them and collecting the residents’ replies for our students. As you can see from the lovely pictures on Facebook, our Year 3 students had the joy of individually having their letters and cards read to their class. Through reaching out to these residents, our Year 3 students are learning that a little kindness goes a long way and that building a friendship with someone they do not know, and who is much older than them brings so much joy to everyone involved. The unfolding story of friendship between our Year 3 students and Glenview residents reminds us that while so much in the world around us is now uncertain, there is one thing that we can count on: a small act of kindness makes a big difference.
