It’s time to light the lights and see our students take to the stage and shine as we prepare for this year’s School Production!

We are excited to announce that this year, we will be doing a musical production of Max Lucado’s ‘You Are Special’. Max Lucado is a best-selling American author and minister. ‘You Are Special’ tells the story of Puncinello, a Wemmick, who discovers that the thoughts and opinions of others do not matter when compared to that of Eli, the Woodcarver, who created him.

Like the Wemmicks, we live in a fallen world where we tend to judge each other; we are told, “You are special if…if you have the brains…if you have the looks…if you have the talent.” God tells us, “You are special just because - no qualifications necessary.” Genesis 1:27 states, “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” Psalm 139:13-14 also declares, “For you created my innermost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” Each and every one of us needs to hear this one reassuring truth: “You are precious in his sight.”.  

While this is a whole-school production, auditions for speaking cast roles will be available only to students in Years 3 - 6 and will take place on Thursday, June 6. All students wishing to audition or express interest in other specific production areas, such as sound and lighting, must complete the Student Expression of Interest Form. Years 3 - 6 students have been given forms to bring home; however, students from Kinder - Year 2 wishing to express their interest are invited to speak with their teacher and collect a form.

All forms must be returned to the office by Monday, June 3.

Exciting developments are underway in the Year 6 classroom as we dive into ‘Production’ in our Technologies Unit!

Last term, Year 6 researched and chose a skill-based arcade game to create. Students wrote a Persuasive Argument citing why their arcade games should be built. They then designed a 3D model of what they wanted their arcade game to look like and created a procedure of steps and materials they would use to build a prototype of their game.

This term, we have started gathering materials and building our arcade games. At this stage of the project, students will engage in hands-on learning and apply their knowledge of various technologies and design concepts.

We look forward to sharing our finished games with everyone later this term.

Book Week - Book Parade
Wednesday, 22 May at 9.20am

Families are warmly invited to Northern's Book Week Parade to be held in the Performing Arts Centre.

This year's theme is ‘Where's Wally?’. Students are encouraged to come dressed as a ‘Where's Wally’ character or to dress in red, white and black.

Book Week - Book Fair 

The Book Fair and book sales, as part of Book Week, will begin after the Book Parade on Wednesday. Students will be given time to complete their Book Fair Wish List on Tuesday, 21 May and then bring it home and share it with parents. The Library will be open for book sales as follows:

• Wednesday: after the Book Parade until 11:30am, 1:00pm-1:30pm

• Thursday: 8:30am - 9:30am, 11:00am - 12:00pm, 1:00pm - 3:30pm

• Friday: 8:30pm - 9:30pm, 11:00am - 12:00pm, 1:00pm - 1:30pm

EFTPOS and cash may be used for book purchases.

Illustration Competition

To celebrate our Book Week theme of ‘Where's Wally?’, we will be holding an illustration competition. Students are encouraged to draw their own ‘Where's Wally?’ page. Their submissions will be grouped into either Prep - Year 2 or Years 3 - 6 for judging.

• Students can work individually or in pairs.

• The Library will be open for students to work on their entries at lunchtime on Wednesdays and Fridays.

• Competition entries must be handed into the Library by Friday, 17 May.

• Prizes will be awarded at the Book Week Parade.

Join the 2.7km Northern Christian School Fun Run/Walk Team! 
Families are encouraged to join in on the fun. Prams are welcome! Members of the Community Engagement Committee and Miss Armstrong will assist on the day.

· Cost is $20 per participant. $5 bus fee for those who would like to be returned to the start line at the end of the race.

Families are warmly invited to come and enjoy a FREE hot chocolate from the PAC Kitchen and start the school day reading with your child in our fantastic Library.
